Bitter Sweetness

I guess there are lessons in everything.  Some good, some bad.  Since the car accident, life around our home has changed quite a bit.  First, both kids now ALWAYS ask if the car in which we are riding has airbags.  They also are constantly asking if the intersection (wherever we are) is "The One" where we had our accident.  Turner often points out "bad" drivers on the road.  Parker hesitates to cross the road when we are out walking or riding bikes.  Parker also double checks that his seat belt is fastened before we hit the road.

None of this is stuff with which five and two year olds should have to concern themselves!

However, with all these sad new realities, has come an awesome new comprehension of God's provision and protection.  Now, EVERY time the kids see a firetruck pass by, they both start to pray for the people involved in the accident that truck is responding to.  It is absolutely beautiful and humbling to hear their sweet little voices plead God's hand of protection and healing on those strangers.  They mean it, and they know what it looks like to be perfectly taken care of by the Good Shepherd.

So, while time will hopefully heal these little ones' wounds, I pray it will only continue to expand their hearts for those who are suffering and afraid...
